Iowa Vanguard Jazz Collective
The IOWA VANGUARD JAZZ COLLECTIVE is an eighteen piece big band which began rehearsing in Peter Hart's garage in 1992, with no equipment and very little music. From that humble beginning the band has evolved into a steadily working ensemble with a library of over 400 arrangements and lots of gear to tote around. Strong points of this band include a wealth of original arrangements and compositions, a vast selection of concert jazz and dance music, and a well-seasoned sound. The band has done a series of special event concerts; we've had a "Benny Goodman Night", "Frank Sinatra Night", "Count Basie Night" and "Duke Ellington Night". Occasionally the band features special guest soloists. In the past the band has featured trumpeter Manny Lopez of Moline, IL., professor Les Thimmig of the University of Wisconsin on sax, Chicago trombonist Mike Moore and multi-reedist Rich Corpolongo, trumpeters Andy Classen of Des Moines and Edgar Crockett from the Quad Cities, and trombonist Mike McMann, also from the Quad City area. |

Chris Miller
Chris says "at my gigs I sing and play acoustic and electric guitar. You'll hear everything from an extended blues jam to pop songs you may know from the radio. More than nineteen years of guitar and singing experience. Seven hours of cover material and three hours of originals."
Sounds like: Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, John Mayer and the like.
